Reggie Jackson, a graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies, will join the big band as drummer for the Cowboy Bebop jazz tribute concert from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 29 at Withrow High School!
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Reggie began working with recording artist Kim Pensyl while he was still in college. Shortly after graduation, he started an 11-year tenure with two-time Grammy winner and jazz legend Diane Schuur. He also did a short stint with Aftermath recording artist Truth Hurts and has toured with Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame inductee and six-time Grammy winner Dr John.
In addition to working these artists, Reggie has performed with likes of Frank Foster, Benny Golson, Arturo Sandoval, Eddie Daniels, Anthony Hamilton, Terence Blanchard, Kirk Whalum, Nicholas Payton, Wycliffe Gordon, Wendell Brunious, Rodney Whitaker, Marcus Belgrave, Lew Tabackin, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Chuck Loeb, Nelson Rangel and Antonio Hart.
The versatile drummer has been seen on the The Tonight Show, played in more than 25 countries, and can be heard on recordings ranging from jazz and gospel to hip-hop and R&B.
